On June 1, La-La Land Records will release John Barry’s score to “Goldfinger” in the most complete version ever issued on vinyl.

Even if the producers of James Bond haven’t yet decided (or perhaps just announced) their plans for the future of the film series, there are plenty of reasons to celebrate its past.
On June 1, La-La Land Records will release the soundtrack to “Goldfinger” on what will be the most complete version ever of John Barry’s score on vinyl. Shrewdly focusing on one of the franchise’s most popular entries, the record label will follow it with a series of physical releases in the months to come.
La-La Land began reissuing many of Barry’s Bond scores on CD in the last year, including deluxe editions of “Goldfinger,” “The Man With the Golden Gun” and “Moonraker.” In addition to remastered sound, the latter two releases feature exclusive, never-before-released cues. Yet after decades in which “Goldfinger” was issued in the U.S. and internationally with different track listings, the label has collected all of the cues on one record for the very first time.

Featuring liner notes by journalist and author Jon Burlingame and art design by Jim Titus, the release was produced by Neil S. Bulk, restored by Chris Malone and mastered by Doug Schwartz. Priced at $34.98, the record will be issued in two vinyl colorways: a “Fort Knox Bullion” limited edition of 700 units, and a “Body Paint Gold” limited edition of 300.
Founded in 2002, La-La Land has steadily released remastered versions of classic and contemporary film and television scores for more than two decades. The films and franchises the label has issued include box sets of the “Friday the 13th,” “Star Trek — The Original Series,” “Lethal Weapon” and “Planet of the Apes.”
Suffice it to say that James Bond is not only one of the most beloved film series of all time, but one that’s been heavily collected and catalogued over its more than 60-year history. These releases not only offer physical media versions at a time when vinyl collecting is experiencing an explosion in popularity, but they rectify or resolve differences from one edition to another, such as those detailed above.
Along with the June 1 release of “Goldfinger,” La-La Land is announcing that a new remastered CD version of the score for “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service” is due this summer. Currently, next two vinyl releases will be double-LP reissues of “Moonraker” and “The Man with the Golden Gun.” The company intends to release a Bond soundtrack on vinyl every three months, with CD reissues peppered in between “so the fans have something to look forward to every six weeks or so,” according to a label representative.
