Former Trump loyalist Marjorie Taylor Greene has been accused of posting a “classless” tribute to former Senator Lindsey Graham on social media.
Graham, a vocal supporter of the Iran war, died on July 11 after what has been described by his office as a “brief and sudden illness”.
Greene, a fierce critic of the war with Iran, uploaded her tribute in response to a July 12 post by U.S Central Command, which confirmed that Donald Trump had ordered further strikes on Iranian targets.
“Lindsey Graham would be proud,” Greene claimed. “RIP.”
Greene’s post was inundated with over one thousand responses, with some MAGA critics branding her as “classless.”
Another labeled her as both “hateful and spiteful,” adding that “money cannot buy class”.
Graham’s office confirmed on X that the senator had died on the evening of July 11.
In a preliminary report released by Graham’s office on Sunday and reviewed by The Independent, the medical examiner of the District of Columbia determined that Graham had died from an aortic rupture caused by hardened arteries.
“The death certificate will be PENDING until all the toxicological and microscopic testing are finalized and at that point the death certificate will be updated to reflect the cause of death and appropriately classify the manner of death,” the statement continues.
Following the senator’s death, Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel had “lost one of its greatest friends”.
Netanyahu also claimed that, during a recent meeting, he had described Graham as a “great friend of Israel and a cherished friend of mine”.
Greene had been critical of Graham in the past. Last week, she said on X that being considered as an “enemy of Lindsey Graham, Israel and Israel’s favorite President” is an “America First compliment”
Greene infamously fell out with Trump late last year as she joined calls for the release of the Epstein files. That led the president to brand her a “traitor”, something she has claimed led to her son receiving death threats.
The former Georgia representative has repeatedly slammed the president over the Iran war, tearing into his repeated claims about the status of the conflict.
“We are back to bombing Iran during the ceasefire for the Iran war that is not a war because Iran bombed a vessel for crossing the Strait of Hormuz that they don’t control yet apparently control,” she posted on X last week.
“Not sure how they bombed the vessel because we have totally and completely obliterated their military and beat them in the war that is not a war like 40 times now.”
