As much as deals excite me (I promise you), I’m pretty relieved that Amazon Prime Day is over for the year. Nevertheless, I couldn’t help but notice that one of the most appealing deals of the event, which was a hefty discount on the already very affordable KTC H27T22C-3 1440p gaming monitor, has dropped even further today.
The short version: that KTC panel is currently going for AU$177.64on Amazon, down from AU$208.99. It’s much better than the AU$216.50 it was going for during Prime Day.
This, by the way, is our favourite budget 1440p monitor. It has a silky smooth 210Hz refresh rate, which is very good value in this price range. It has an IPS display, Freesync and G-sync compatibility, a 1 ms response time and 450 nits of peak brightness.
Honestly, it’s above and beyond what you should expect in this price range.
Our favourite budget 1440p monitor gets a neat discount, bringing it down to an all time low. This IPS display boasts a brisk 200Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time, Freesync and G-sync compatible, and won’t cost an arm and a leg.View Deal
Do keep in mind that this model seems to have received a cut to its RRP between now and early July: it used to be AU$289.99 at full price on Amazon, now that’s dropped to AU$208.99.
In his review, Jeremy Laird praised this monitor’s “punchy IPS panel” and the 200Hz refresh rate, while criticising its “limited” HDR capability and tilt-only stand. It’s well worth reading the review if you want a fuller picture, but the H27T22C-3 is also a bit lacking when it comes to connectivity.
“The fear with a low cost monitor from a less familiar brand is that it might suffer from some or other really obvious flaw,” Laird wrote. “Maybe the calibration is a mess, the overdrive doesn’t work or the backlight is horribly dim. But none of that applies here. This isn’t a perfect display, but it is pretty nice by any reasonable metric. And in the context of the price, it’s pretty darn brilliant.”
