One suspect has been taken into custody after three people were killed and four were wounded — including a 2-year-old boy — during a mass shooting at a popular Seattle food festival Sunday evening. Two died at the scene, and a third victim who was taken to Harborview Medical Center later succumbed to their injuries.
The Seattle Fire Department said the child and three other wounded victims were rushed to the hospital in stable condition, with the fifth person treated at the scene for minor injuries, The Seattle Times said.
There was no word on the identity of whoever’s behind the carnage at the Seattle Center, home to the city’s iconic Space Needle, which was hosting the annual Bite of Seattle event over the weekend.
The barrage of gunfire erupted around 6 p.m. local time.
Estan Wakonabo, 25, told The Seattle Times he was at Bite of Seattle with his girlfriend when he heard gunshots.
“It was just pure chaos,” he said.
Those injured in the shooting include a two-year-old boy, a 40-year-old woman, a 39-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man.
Manhunt on for second suspect, Seattle police chief says
Seattle police have said a manhunt is on for a second suspect.
According to police, one suspected gunman surrendered and was taken into custody soon after the shooting.
A second suspect fled the scene, prompting a manhunt, Seattle assistant police chief Tyrone Davis has said.

Pacific Science Center inside Seattle Center to remain closed on Monday
The Pacific Science Center will remain closed on Monday following the shooting at Seattle Center that left two people dead and five others injured.
The center is located inside the Seattle Center campus.
In a post on Instagram, the Pacific Science Center said all shows and general admission for Monday had been cancelled, with guests to receive automatic refunds.
The shooting occurred during the final day of the Bite of Seattle food festival, where thousands of people had gathered.

Witnesses say they heard ‘seven to eight shots’
Witnesses described hearing multiple rounds of gunfire as panic spread through the Bite of Seattle festival.
Two attendees told KOMO News they heard “seven to eight shots” and saw people running “everywhere”.
Another witness said he was near a stage when he heard “at least two dozen shots”.
Some festivalgoers also took shelter inside the Space Needle gift shop, while police, emergency crews and officers from several agencies, including the FBI, responded to the scene.
Washington governor Bob Ferguson later said a state SWAT team was also deployed at the request of Seattle police.
There has been no press conference, almost five hours after the shooting.
