Peter Dinklage will play a Santa in Olivia Wilde‘s new comedy, Naughty. Wilde recently explained why he was her first choice. She also shared how Jennifer Aniston joined the cast of her upcoming comedy movie.

Olivia Wilde recently attended the I Want Your Sex premiere, wherein she talked about her upcoming holiday comedy Naughty. During an interview with Variety, Wilde explained Peter Dinklage and Jennifer Aniston’s casting.
She praised writer Jimmy Wharton and loved his script. She said, “That film… has been in the works for several years. Jimmy Wharton wrote this script. I read that script, and I laughed so hard, and I became obsessed with the idea of Peter Dinklage playing Santa Claus.”
Wilde said Dinklage was always her only choice. She later met him for coffee in Brooklyn. She recalled, “He’s the greatest guy, and I’m a big fan of him, and we went and had a coffee in Brooklyn, and I pitched it to him, and he was so immediately excited and supportive, and he was the only one in my mind who would play the role.”
She also praised the movie’s unusual story and style. Wilde said, “The film is really ambitious, and it’s really funny. And it is really out there.” Wilde then opened up about Jennifer Aniston’s casting too. She admitted getting Aniston felt almost impossible then.
Wilde said, “Jen was our dream girl, but I didn’t think I’d get her.” She also shared why directing Aniston meant so much. She said, “To be able to direct one of our greatest comedians and actresses, someone who I grew up learning from, looking up to, laughing with, I just never imagined it would possibly come true.”
She remembered thinking, “It was, like, the name you have up on the board, but you’re, like, ‘But we won’t get her.’” Things changed after Aniston finally read the script though. Wilde said, “Then she read it, and she was so immediately into it and loved it.”
Earlier this week, reports confirmed that Universal Pictures has officially greenlit the movie. Jennifer Aniston and Peter Dinklage will lead the cast. Aniston plays Mallory during a custody battle, while Dinklage plays Santa, who may help save her case. The film arrives in theaters on November 5, 2027.
