YouTuber Niko Omilana traveled across all 7 continents of the Earth for $0, giving himself just 30 days to complete the challenge.
The British creator couldn’t spend or even touch money, so he had to find increasingly creative ways to get flights, food, accommodation and experiences for free.
Along the way, he got onto a private jet, hitchhiked across countries, joined a rally team, stayed with strangers and even went paragliding without paying for it.
Somehow, all of that took him from the UK to Antarctica and back again without spending a single penny.
He got a private jet across Earth, a rally car and a trip to Antarctica for free
The first major win in this YouTuber’s seemingly crazy travel challenge across the whole Earth came before Niko had even properly left Britain.
After being turned down by several people, a couple eventually agreed to let him fly with them on their private jet.
For a challenge where the entire point was to spend nothing, getting a seat on a private aircraft was a pretty spectacular way to start.
Once he reached Africa, Niko discovered that one of the best ways to save money was simply to explain what he was doing and see who was willing to help.
That led to him meeting a rally duo who gave him a ride, allowing him to make progress without paying for transportation.
He also met a local family who offered him food and somewhere to stay, eliminating two more expenses that can quickly eat into a travel budget.
Then came one of the most difficult destinations on his list – Antarctica.
Niko had to find a way onto the continent without buying his own ticket, and once there he completed his challenge in some seriously extreme conditions.
He also got up close with penguins and even shared sweets with them, although that particular interaction probably wasn’t one to copy in real life.
After Antarctica, he headed into South America and continued using the same strategy.
Instead of paying for every journey, he hitchhiked through Argentina, Chile and Brazil, relying on strangers to get him where he needed to go.
At one point, the challenge became a genuine race against the clock when he had to sprint toward an airport in Brazil to avoid missing his next flight.
He went paragliding and hang gliding without spending a penny
Niko’s $0 approach wasn’t limited to getting from A to B.
When he reached New Zealand and Australia, he managed to take part in some genuinely wild activities without opening his wallet.
The trip included both hang gliding and paragliding, experiences that would normally require paying an operator for the equipment, instructors and flight.
Instead, Niko relied on the same combination of kindness and bartering that had carried him across Africa and South America.
That became the secret to the entire trip: whenever Niko wanted something that would normally cost money, he had to find someone willing to provide it another way.
He also continued getting rides from strangers and finding people willing to provide food or accommodation, meaning he didn’t have the usual costs of hotels, restaurants, taxis and rental cars constantly piling up.
The final leg through North America was just as chaotic
Niko hitchhiked through Canada and the US, made last-minute arrangements and eventually found himself racing through New York City as he attempted to reach the finish line before his 30-day deadline.
And after all those flights, rides, meals, beds and once-in-a-lifetime experiences, the final bill was still $0.
Niko’s whole Earth challenge ultimately showed that he could replace money with something else: other people’s generosity and a willingness to ask for help.
But he didn’t simply walk away with the savings.
After completing the challenge across all seven continents, Niko reflected on everyone who had helped him and gave money to some of the people who had supported him.
He also revealed plans to donate more than £33,000 to charity.
