As the global memory shortage continues raging my regular search for gaming PC deals is increasingly accompanied by tears and grimaces. So, I was surprised this morning to find an RTX 5060 Ti gaming PC for just $1,000 at Newegg. I’ve not seen one so cheap in quite a while.
There is, of course, a caveat to getting this build so cheap. Its system memory is unfortunately comprised of just a single stick of DDR4 RAM, which is far from ideal. That will definitely cut your frame rate by a chunk compared to, say, 32 GB of DDR5—it’s hard to say with much accuracy, but based on relevant testing, the latter could even bag you an extra, say, 15% or so extra fps.

If you want the option to upgrade later, the iBuyPower Element SE below for $1,299 at Walmart is a good shout, mainly thanks to its AM5 platform and DDR5 memory. It might be a while until the global memory shortage clears up, but if and when it does you’ll be able to upgrade to 32 GB of DDR5 for a well-rounded system. The Ryzen 7 9700F should do you well for quite some time, too.
If you don’t want to risk an unknown wait until the shortage is over, however, the last deal I’ve listed below for $1,399 at Walmart gives you the full 32 GB of DDR5. I know, I know: ‘$1,399 for an RTX 5060 Ti gaming PC.’ But that is, unfortunately, the market that we’re in right now. This is now a good price for such a PC.
You could drop another $100 for an RTX 5070 PC, but then you’re looking at PCs like this Thermaltake one for $1,500 at Newegg, which has just 16 GB of RAM. For the peace of mind that 32 GB of DDR5 will give you, the iBuyPower Slate is about as cheap as you’re looking at if you want something that performs well in games and outside of them.

The full details

This is as cheap as I’ve seen an RTX 5060 Ti gaming PC for quite a while. That means it’s the cheapest I’ve seen a pretty performant budget build for a while, given this GPU nets a chunk of extra performance ahead of the RTX 5060. The caveat here is you’re getting just 16 GB of RAM, and it’s single-channel DDR4 RAM at that.

If you’re looking for a budget PC, this one is a good shout if you’re looking for something for more than just gaming. The Ryzen 7 here is a great mid-range processor that beats many others in its price bracket, and you’re getting DDR5 RAM which means the AM5 platform will have some longevity to it. Just note it is only a single stick of DDR5 you’re getting.

This is about as cheap as you’ll find a gaming PC that not only gives decent 1080p and 1440p gaming performance but also gives plenty of wiggle room in the general processing department. That’s thanks not only to the Core i7 chip but also the 32 GB of DDR5 RAM, which offers plenty of peace of mind during this global memory shortage. Sadly you’re only getting the 8 GB version of the GPU, though.
