GamesAid has appointed six new trustees to its board and raised £82,000 for four charities in 2025/26.
Dom Shaw (UKIE EDI senior officer) has been appointed vice chair, Catherine Anderson (Green Man Gaming secretary) as secretary, and Amelia Suchy (Mom to Mum’s co-founder and director) as treasurer.
Anderson and Suchy succeed Mark Washbrook (Beat Games’ head of studio) and Gavin Smith (Arbuthnot Latham senior commercial manager) in the roles of secretary and treasurer.
Additional new trustees include Greg Weller (Generation Media head of gaming partnerships), Jon Paterson (Barclays games and creative innovation lead), and Matthieu Gras (CineRPG CIC co-founder and CEO).
The £82,000 raised was distributed among four charities: AFK, Autistica, Rays of Sunshine Children’s Charity, and Solving Kids’ Cancer UK. Each received £20,500.
Funds were raised through events, tombolas, raffles, and other activities. They were formally presented at a cheque-giving ceremony in May 2025.
GamesAid also recently raised £30,070 at Develop:Brighton through events including Stand Up for GamesAid and Mark Ward’s Charity Poker Tournament.
With this funding, AFK provided specialist mobility equipment for children, while Rays of Sunshine will grant gaming-related wishes for 15 seriously or terminally ill young people.
Autistica is piloting an Employment Readiness Program to support neurodivergent youth, and Solving Kids’ Cancer UK is expanding its Family Support Service.
“We are incredibly proud of what the GamesAid community has achieved this year,” said GamesAid chair Sara Veal.
“The games industry has faced significant challenges in recent times, and it means a great deal that so many people have continued to give their time, energy and support to our work.
“Whether you attended one of our events, took part in a tombola, bought a raffle ticket, or simply spread the word – every contribution made this possible. The charities we support do extraordinary work for children and young people across the UK, and this funding will help them reach even more.”
