A new Season 3 update for Peacemaker has disappointed some John Cena fans. The DC series featuring the retired professional wrestler as the lead was a critical hit. It introduced several memorable characters that fans connected with.
However, a recent update from The Ankler stated that there are currently no plans for Peacemaker Season 3. According to the source, the status for Peacemaker Season 3 reads, “No current plans for a third season.”
Some fans took to X to express their disappointment, with some commenting, “→DCU — Dead.” However, some fans are satisfied with a tighter slate. For instance, @dresk47 wrote, “Fine with me. Trying to keep up with all the shows and movies can bog an audience down. Keep it nice and tight (emphasis on nice). If you are keeping it.”
Moreover, two previously announced DC TV shows, Waller and Paradise Lost, are no longer active priorities on James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC slate. These two titles are Waller and Paradise Lost. This news of Peacemaker 3 comes three years after Gunn and Safran announced their major TV show plans after taking over the studio. The shows that were running well for DC, being scrapped from its slate, have left fans disappointed across social media.
This is specifically because the finale of Peacemaker Season 2 left fans with a major cliffhanger. Since Season 3 is not currently in development, DC will have to resolve Season 2’s ending sooner or later.
In the Season 2 finale, which premiered on October 10, 2025, Chris Smith is trapped by Rick Flag Sr. on an isolated Earth called Salvation. This was done to test the planet’s ability to imprison metahumans. The episode ends with Chris hearing strange animal roars, suggesting that unknown creatures inhabit the planet.
That said, since the third season of John Cena’s hit show is not “dead,” according to the aforementioned report, fans can expect updates on Season 3 in the coming years. While James Gunn previously stated there were no plans for the show’s third season, his character could return in Man of Tomorrow, potentially leaving the door open for future Peacemaker installments in the DCU.
