Rihanna’s animated comedy Home is leaving Netflix next month, giving fans limited time to watch the film. The movie became a notable box office success and featured a star-studded voice cast.

According to What’s on Netflix, Home will leave Netflix on September 1, 2026. The 2015 animated science fiction comedy was produced by DreamWorks Animation and based on the 2007 children’s book The True Meaning of Smekday.
Tim Johnson directed the movie, while Tom J. Astle and Matt Ember wrote the screenplay. Jim Parsons voices Oh, the clumsy Boov outcast, while Rihanna voices Tip, the young girl searching for her mother.
Steve Martin voices Captain Smek, the leader of the Boov, while Jennifer Lopez voices Tip’s mother, Lucy. Matt Jones voices Kyle, who is the right-hand man of Smek, and Brian Stepanek voices the Gorg Commander.
The story follows Oh and Tip after the Boov invade Earth. Tip searches for her missing mother, while Oh becomes a fugitive after accidentally exposing Earth’s location to the Gorg. The two form an unlikely friendship while facing several dangers along the way.
The voice cast also includes Frank Welker as Pig, Tip’s pet cat. Home earned around $386 million at the worldwide box office. The movie received a 52% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes. However, its audience score was higher at 64%.
Vox critic Emily St. James praised the movie’s themes of maturity and growth, writing, “When Tip and Oh realize how wrong they’ve been about so many things, they begin moving toward real maturity and growth.”
James Croot of The Stuff wrote, “Home is an engaging animated adventure that will appeal far more to those under 8 than their accompanying adults.”
With Home leaving Netflix next month, fans have a limited time to revisit Rihanna’s animated comedy before it leaves the streaming platform.
