Vitality announced today that Dan “apEX” Madesclaire and Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut have signed contract extensions with the organization, keeping France’s most iconic duo tied to the organization until the end of 2028. With this, we will see apEX and ZywOo represent for at least five more Majors and a bevy of S-tier tournaments as work to extend a collaborative legacy that has seen the duo already net Vitality three Majors and two ESL Grand Slams.
The re-upping of ZywOo’s contract comes as the French superstar’s previous contract was set to expire at the end of 2026. As Shahar “flameZ” Shushan’s contract is in place until the end of 2027 this means Vitality have effectively secured the services of the three players for the next 16 months, which should ensure the stability of the team unless the organization opts for roster moves or a player seeks a buyout to join a new organization.
In an interview with HLTV, ZywOo said that the decision to re-sign with Vitality felt “obvious” and that he didn’t give any serious consideration to leaving the French organization or seeking a new team:
“I think it was the most logical thing. I didn’t even think about it, in my brain I was just, ‘We’re going to re-sign with Vitality.’ I think it was just the most obvious re-signs ever.”
For ZywOo Vitality is undoubtedly his most famous club as he has spent the entirety of his tier-one playing career with the organization while apEX is in a similar situation despite stellar stints with G2 and Envy earlier in his career. Importantly this means Vitality may be apEX’s final team as a player as the Frenchman noted he will be “almost 36” by the end of 2028.
