Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are officially done with Hollywood. The royal couple revealed their plans to relocate back to the UK and what it means for their Netflix partnership.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle plan to leave Los Angeles and relocate to the United Kingdom, Deadline reports.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex intend to bring their children for an extended stay. Notably, the couple famously departed from royal duties in 2020 and settled in California. However, they will continue as non-working royals and private citizens upon their return. Additionally, People reports they also plan to maintain their Montecito residence.
The relocation follows a restructured deal between their production company Archewell Productions and Netflix. Specifically, the agreement shifted from an overall pact to a first-look arrangement late last year. Meanwhile, Netflix also pulled its investment from Markle’s lifestyle brand As Ever and canceled her cooking show.
Despite the changes, Netflix’s Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria dismissed speculation about the couple’s future at the platform. “We still have a relationship with them. We have movies in development with them. We have an amazing doc with them,” Bajaria stated earlier this year. She further emphasized that deal changes are routine across the industry.
Multiple projects remain in active development under the couple’s first-look agreement with Netflix. For instance, a polo-themed scripted drama sits among the upcoming titles they are executive producing. Similarly, Tracy Oliver is penning The Wedding Date, an adaptation of Jasmine Guillory’s novel. In addition, a screen version of Carley Fortune’s Meet Me at the Lake is also progressing.
Their executive-produced documentary Cookie Queens also debuted theatrically through Roadside Attractions two weeks ago. Director Alysa Nahmias’ film exploring Girl Scout Cookie season opened to $328K across 446 screens. Prior to that, Markle promoted the project at its Sundance premiere back in January.
