With the online tournament starting in a little over a week, CROSSFIRE has announced the groups for their biggest season yet. Expanding from 32 to 56 teams, the lowest-seeded 48 teams have been divided into twelve groups of four, with the other eight teams going directly to the playoffs.
CROSSFIRE Season 6 will run from August 31st all the way to October 11th and feature a $10,000 prize pool.
Each of the twelve groups will run a round-robin. The top two teams in each group by number of wins will advance to the playoffs, where they will be joined by the eight highest-seeded teams in a massive 32-team, double-elimination playoff bracket to determine the winner.
Every match in the event will be a best-of-three, except for the best-of-five final where the upper-bracket team gets a one-map advantage. With all these matches, the absolute minimum number of maps played this season will be 268.
