Tesla Cybertruck

This Tesla Cybertruck owner took his EV truck to a shop with 26,000 miles on the clock before driving it home with zero.

The Oregon-based Cybertruck owner posted about the ordeal on the Cybertruck Owners Club forum in May 2025.

Having sent the truck in for some work, he was bewildered as to why the EV suddenly showed zero miles, as if it were brand new.

As intentionally resetting an odometer is classed as fraud, the owner was quite worried about the situation.

The Cybertruck owner explained the situation

The truck, a Cyberbeast version of the EV, was suffering from panel misalignment and also needed a new light bar installed.

There was also an ABS alert.

So the owner, user CheddaTruck, decided to take it into the shop for some work.

Tesla: “No problem, we’ll have it done by Thursday night!”

Me, foolishly optimistic: “Sweet, what could go wrong?” the user said on the forum.

When the pickup date was pushed from Thursday to end of day Friday, alarm bells started to ring.

Even more so when the shop said they were replacing the left body controller.

When he finally saw the truck, however, things took a turn for the worse.

There were multiple problems with the truck

The owner’s phone would no longer connect to the truck, and there was trim dangling under the glove box.

A new light bar had been installed asymmetrically, there was a loose bolt underneath the tailgate and a loose trim panel.

But the strangest discovery was that the CyberBeast’s odometer had been reset from 26,000 miles to zero.

“My CyberBeast went in for a spa day and came back a newborn — with a lazy eye and a missing limb,” he said.

This meant the owner was worried the truck would be seen as a TMU (True Mileage Unknown) vehicle.

Reading through the rest of the forum posts saw the owner tackle the next steps with good grace and humor.

One of them made for particularly amusing reading.

“Saturday Morning

  • I open the door, coffee in hand—my truck’s gone fullBird Box.
    • Cameras: all eight blacker than a goth latte.
    • Nav: vanished—truck thinks the world is flat.
    • Blind-spot indicators: hilariously ironic when you have zero vision.
    • MCU: rage-quit harder than a toddler denied Skittles.
    • Reboot dance? About as useful as screaming at a Roomba.

Result:100-mileWalk of Shame 2.0back to service.”

The owner then reported what happened after the truck was back at the workshop.

“Tech: We’ll just reinstall software.” Software:404 – Brain Not Found. Tech:“Huh… MCU appears to have yeeted itself into the Shadow Realm,” he said on the forum.

Whatever had gone on with the troublesome truck, it clearly wasn’t very happy with something.

It showed that even the most modern of vehicles can have their moments.

Credit must be given to its owner however, for tackling the problems with such good humor.
