On August 21, LFA 239 was headlined by a clash between Chris Mecate and Manuel Exposito in Ventura, California.
The fight delivered and saw Mecate get his hand raised via unanimous decision following three rounds.
However, the way the matchup played out wasn’t the main thing that caught the eyes of the fans on social media.
Commenters immediately diagnosed that Mecate looked to have a huge staph infection on his back.
While fans are more than used to this being a talking point, in this instance, it was impossible to ignore due to the sheer size of it.
‘Chris Mecate with what appears to be one of the nastiest cases of staph I’ve ever seen a fighter bring into the cage,” wrote The Matchmaker on X.
While one user on X thought the infection was a tattoo, the vast majority of reactions saw fans use different ways to talk about how ‘disgusting’ this visual was.
‘I’m genuinely disgusted I cannot even pay attention to the fight,’ shared one spectator.
Various reactions saw people question how this main event was allowed to go ahead given the circumstances.
