Hayden Christensen finally spoke about playing Anakin Skywalker in the Star Wars franchise and working with Dave Filoni. Despite playing the character for over two decades, Christensen admitted that Filoni may understand Anakin “even better” than he does.
During D23 earlier this month, IMDb asked Christensen about his involvement with Anakin storylines. Speaking his heart out, the actor admitted, “I don’t need to. Dave Filoni, I think, understands this character in some ways even better than I do. And so when I read the scripts, I’m just elated with what I get to do and say.”
Expressing his admiration for Filoni, Christensen added, “He’s still very collaborative, and if I have an idea, I’ll share it, and if it works, then we’ll do it. And so, we’re not too precious about things, and we get to explore a little bit. But I try to honor the words that he’s written, and I don’t need to deviate much.”
Hayden Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker will soon appear in another Star Wars project
After reprising Anakin Skywalker in Ahsoka Season 1, back in 2023, Christensen will return as the fan-favorite character in Season 2. During D23, Lucasfilm shared a first-look trailer from Ahsoka Season 2. It showed Rosario Dawson, the leading star, returning as the titular character. The ensemble cast includes Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine, Lars Mikkelsen as Thrawn, and Eman Esfandi as Ezra Bridger.
Season 2 will mainly focus on the war between Grand Admiral Thrawn and the New Republic. The official logline reads, “As Ahsoka and her Jedi apprentice Sabine Wren travel across a mysterious and perilous world to find their way home, their friends Hera, Ezra, Zeb, and Chopper must face the powerful Grand Admiral Thrawn and his sinister allies, who seek to plunge the New Republic into war.”
Christensen has played Anakin Skywalker in the Star Wars franchise since 2002. He first appeared in the role in Episode II – Attack of the Clones, followed by 2004’s Return of the Jedi and 2005’s Episode III – Revenge of the Sith. Years later, he reprised his role in a voice cameo for 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker. The actor also appeared in the Disney+ TV show Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Ahsoka Season 2 premieres on January 20, 2027, on Disney+.
