TWG Global, the holding company of embattled Los Angeles Dodgers owner Mark Walter, issued a statement Wednesday pushing back on “substantial speculation and misinformation” regarding Walter and the company’s alleged business improprieties and tripling down on the assertion that the Dodgers themselves are not for sale.
“Over the past several weeks, multipronged attacks against TWG have been advanced by unnamed sources with self-serving interests that have been reported in the media,” TWG said in a statement, first reported by BusinessWire. “It is important to set the record straight. TWG stands firmly behind the integrity of its business and remains focused on continuing to deliver value to its stakeholders.
“Despite what has been reported, there has been no fraud.”
Walter and his companies are the subject of a federal probe for not properly reporting investments made through his life insurance companies — Delaware Life Co. and Clear Springs Life and Annuity Co., operating under the parent company Group 1001 — with affiliated businesses owned by Walter. Essentially, investigators are examining whether the transactions amounted to self-dealing. The Dodgers owner had his phone and laptop seized by FBI agents a year ago as they have continued their probe.
In its statement, TWG Global denied wrongdoing.
“There is no victim here,” they said. “No one has been harmed, and no one has claimed they were harmed.”
Everything we know about the Lakers being sold again

The specifics of the investigation largely bubbled under the surface until earlier this month, when Walter and TWG Global sold the Los Angeles Lakers at a $12.5 billion valuation less than a year after buying the team at a then-record $10 billion figure. The sudden sale, along with the fact that Walter and fellow Dodgers owner Todd Boehly are looking to sell their shares in the Premier League’s Chelsea Football Club, raised speculation about what could happen with Walter’s other sports properties. A Puck report also cited that Walter offered to get out of the Dodgers and Lakers’ sweetheart television deal with Charter Communications early in exchange for cash on hand, which TWG disputed.
Dodgers president and CEO Stan Kasten has addressed reporters twice since the Lakers sale, and each time, insisted nothing will change with the crown jewel of Walter’s sports portfolio.
“The Dodgers are not being sold,” Kasten said Friday afternoon at Dodger Stadium. “They’re not gonna be sold. They’re not for sale. There’s no process that has been started to sell it, period. We are planning only to win.”
Wednesday’s statement repeated that notion, defended Walter and Guggenheim Baseball Management’s use of insurance money to purchase the Dodgers for $2.15 billion back in 2012, and said the club’s exorbitant spending — an estimated $487 million between payroll and luxury tax payments — is covered by a reported $1 billion in revenue they received in 2025.
“The allegation that the Los Angeles Dodgers were acquired or have been funded improperly is false and not supported by the facts,” the statement read. “The Dodgers transaction was subject to significant scrutiny and complied with all rules and regulations that govern the purchase of Major League Baseball teams.
“The transaction was subject to a full investigation conducted by an outside law firm on behalf of insurance regulators from multiple states, which identified no irregularities and resulted in no further action, effectively resolving the matter.
“The Dodgers have the highest revenue in baseball, and it significantly exceeds the team’s obligations to its players.”
Both Kasten and TWG also said the group is not looking to sell its stake in its Cadillac Formula 1 team.
TWG pushed back on the idea it is having a “fire sale” after the Lakers transaction, saying that “as responsible owners and investors, they consider all legitimate offers when they are received.”
There is no timeline for the investigation, but TWG said it is proposing buying the affiliated loans from their insurance companies to “reduce affiliate exposure on the books of the insurance companies in an orderly, measured manner that is beneficial to both the insurance companies and TWG.”
