For England, and the other major European nations, the transfer window has come to a close. But that is not to say the transfer fun has come to a complete halt.
It was a busy deadline day, with Manchester City finally agreeing a deal to sign Enzo Fernandez, Monaco pulling the plug on Chelsea’s deal for Lamine Camara and Sunderland and Crystal Palace duelling over Lyon winger Malick Fofana.
There are still several leagues around the world operating in the market, though, with their clubs looking to hoover up the talent which hasn’t already been snatched up over the summer.
The Athletictakes a look at where business could still be done over the coming days, weeks and even months.
Which windows are still open?
Turkey and Saudi Arabia have continued their recent trend of being big players in the transfer market, and they will continue to operate in the coming weeks and days, hoping to attract more talent as the major leagues are prohibited from adding to their squads.
But for Turkish clubs, the clock is ticking. They have only a further three days to conclude their business before their window shuts on September 4.
The Turkish market has contributed to some of the biggest narratives of the summer window: Mohamed Salah’s free transfer to Trabzonspor was one of the highest-profile deals, while Galatasaray offered a lucrative contract to Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes, and later signed his compatriot Rafael Leao from Milan.
A last-minute move to Turkey could appear favourable for players in major European leagues who are out of favour, and may not have been able to secure a move elsewhere before other deadlines.
Saudi Arabian clubs, meanwhile, can afford to be a little more patient.
They can operate in the market until October 12, opening up a sizeable window of opportunity for players who could not secure moves elsewhere before their deadline.
The Scottish, Portuguese and Dutch markets remain open for business, but again, not for much longer.
The deadline for Scotland is September 3 at 5pm. In the Netherlands, the window shuts a day earlier, while Benfica, Sporting CP, Porto and other Portuguese teams can continue to bring in players until September 15.
Major League Soccer (MLS) closes its window on September 2, while in Mexico and Brazil, the deadlines are September 11.
When are the Premier League and UEFA squad deadlines?
Premier League squads are resubmitted after the transfer window closes, allowing those who join just before the deadline to be registered.
Of course, clubs can still sign free agents outside the transfer window. However, they are only able to register those players if there is space in the 25-player squad or if the new signings are under 21.
Squads for clubs competing in European competition must be submitted to UEFA by 10.59pm BST (5.59pm ET) on Wednesday, September 2, in order for players to be eligible for the league phase.
There is then a second registration window, between the league phase and knockout fixtures, which allows clubs to register a maximum of three new signings. With a deadline set at February 4, this allows players who joined in the January transfer window to be registered for the competition.
What deals could still be done? Any free agents?
Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal have been at the centre of some significant transfer stories in recent weeks. Having secured striker Ollie Watkins from Aston Villa in a £50million ($67.7m) deal, they have also agreed a €70m (£60m; $81m) move for Arsenal winger Gabriel Martinelli.
And in MLS, there are several deals ongoing: The Athleticreported on Saturday that St Louis City is closing in on a blockbuster deal to acquire Brazilian forward Rafael Navarro from the Colorado Rapids, while the New England Revolution is finalising a deal to sign Hungary international midfielder Daniel Gazdag.
And there are free agents available, should clubs decide to add to their squad outside the transfer window.
Former Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho has not found a new club following the expiration of his contract at Old Trafford this summer. The 26-year-old spent last season on loan at Aston Villa, recording one goal and three assists in 39 appearances. Former England team-mate Raheem Sterling is similarly without a club, after last playing for Feyenoord.
Reiss Nelson, meanwhile, is also available on a free transfer after the mutual termination of his Arsenal contract.
Experienced defenders Dani Carvajal and David Alaba, both 34, are also free agents, having seen their contracts expire at Real Madrid, along with Dani Ceballos, who left the Bernabeu this summer.
Wilfried Zaha, Mauro Icardi and Riyad Mahrez are among the other high-profile names without a club, and former Premier League Golden Boot winner Jamie Vardy is also searching for a new home.
