Nottingham Forest and Tottenham played out a goalless draw at the City Ground as both sides missed chances to claim all three points.
Tottenham made the brighter start and saw plenty of the ball during the opening stages, with Pedro Porro creating several openings from the right.
The visitors won five corners inside the opening 10 minutes but were unable to make their set-piece pressure count.
Omar Marmoush had Forest’s first notable chance in the 19th minute when he raced onto a pass from Porro and fired a low effort narrowly wide.
Forest gradually grew into the contest and began to threaten on the counter. Morgan Gibbs-White had a sight of goal after Tottenham failed to clear their lines, but his first-time effort flew over the crossbar.
Tottenham’s best opening came just before half-time when Gibbs-White ran through on goal, but Antonin Kinsky came off his line to make a low save. The Forest attacker was subsequently flagged offside.
Forest goal ruled out by VAR
Tottenham started the second half on the front foot and created an opportunity for Micky van de Ven, who headed wide after connecting with a cross into the six-yard box.
However, Forest appeared to take the lead in the 67th minute.
Kinsky rushed out of his goal to get a touch to Gibbs-White’s effort, with the ball then bouncing towards an empty net.
Sandro Tonali and Jan-Paul van Hecke both attempted to clear, but their efforts collided before Neco Williams bundled the ball over the line.
The goal was initially awarded but was sent for a VAR review, with referee Craig Pawson eventually ruling that Williams had handled the ball.
Late chances but no winner
Forest began to look the more dangerous side during the closing stages, with their substitutions adding more energy to the attack.
Kinsky was forced to deal with a dangerous situation involving Marmoush in the 72nd minute, while Forest continued to threaten from wide areas.
Tottenham remained a threat on the counter, though, and came close to breaking the deadlock in the 89th minute.
Kudus managed to get a cross into the box from the right and Dominic Solanke rose to meet it, but his header landed on the roof of the net.
Spurs continued to push during five minutes of added time, with Mudryk winning a free-kick after turning Daniel Munoz on the left.
Forest defended the resulting set-piece and survived further Tottenham pressure, while Kudus was unable to find a team-mate with a late cross.
