A new Superior Iron Man collectible has reignited speculation surrounding Tom Cruise’s potential MCU debut. The collectible in question is an upcoming action figure from the artists at Hot Toys.
Fans will soon be able to get their hands on a ⅙-scale collectible figure from Hot Toys. The limited-edition collectible will feature Superior Iron Man in a dark aesthetic, with an Infamous Neon color scheme. Fans can light up the figure using USB-powered LED lights.
The action figure will sport neon green lighting, giving Superior Iron Man’s shiny black finish a neon-green appearance. The figure also comes with air flaps, removable chest plates, and interchangeable hands for mimicking different combat poses. Fans who want to grab the limited edition collectible need to preorder it at Sideshow.com. Only 2500 units will be up for grabs.
This release has reignited fan speculation that a rumored Tom Cruise character could appear in the upcoming Avengers movies.
Tom Cruise was once rumored to play Superior Iron Man in the MCU
Decades ago, when New Line Cinema held the rights to the Iron Man character, Tom Cruise was considered for the role. However, the film did not take shape as New Line Cinema decided not to move forward with the Marvel character. Years later, rumors began to circulate about Cruise taking on the role of Superior Iron Man.
Before MCU’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022), fans started speculating that Cruise would take up the role of Iron Man or Superior Iron Man. Screenwriter Michael Waldron then admitted he loved the fan-casting idea and asked Marvel boss Kevin Feige about getting Cruise for a cameo. He told Rolling Stone in an interview, “I love Tom Cruise, and I said to Kevin [Feige] at one point, I was like, ‘Could we get Tom Cruise’s Iron Man?’” However, the pitch never materialized.
In June 2026, as reported by ComicBook.com, scooper My Time To Shine posted on X that Marvel Studios is in conversation with Tom Cruise about a potential role in Avengers: Secret Wars. While rumors about Cruise joining the MCU continue to circulate, there is no official confirmation from Marvel or the actor.
