Sebastian Stan just explained why The Batman II keeps slipping down the calendar. The actor says cameras still have plenty of work ahead, confirming that the Matt Reeves sequel remains in production and far from finished.

Stan walked the Toronto International Film Festival red carpet for his new award-winning film Fjord, where he addressed the state of The Batman II. Asked how much filming remains, he replied, “A very long time. It’s a long winter.” That answer sheds light on the sequel’s long-delayed schedule.
Warner Bros. moved The Batman Part II to February 18, 2028, after previously targeting October 1, 2027. Sebastian Stan’s comments suggest the shoot itself is the reason behind the push, not a simple calendar swap.
Stan first confirmed his involvement in April 2026, telling fans he would start shooting that summer. “Obviously Batman this summer is going to be very interesting. So I’m excited about what’s coming,” he said at the time, without naming his character.
He has since gone further. In an interview with French outlet Le Journal du Dimanche, Stan said, “I also can’t say anything about The Batman: Part 2, by Matt Reeves, where I play Harvey Dent.” Director Matt Reeves has not officially confirmed the casting, though rumours long pointed to Stan as Harvey Dent, also known as Two-Face. Other speculation linked him to Victor Zsasz.
Robert Pattinson, who returns as Bruce Wayne, recently said production would restart within a couple of months. He also praised Reeves’ script, calling it a radical departure from the 2022 original, which earned $772 million worldwide. The sequel brings back Colin Farrell, Jeffrey Wright and Andy Serkis. Scarlett Johansson has also joined the cast, with Variety reporting that Barry Keoghan may return as the Joker.
For now, The Batman: Part II fans simply have to wait out that long winter.
