Sarah Abo is leaving the Today show this year, as the popular host has officially confirmed her departure. Abo is currently on maternity leave following the birth of her son, Sonny.

The Today show has officially farewelled Sarah Abo on Thursday, according to Nine. She will leave Nine Network at the end of 2026. She plans to pursue other opportunities after departing.
Sylvia Jeffreys shared an emotional message during the farewell. She described Abo as a beloved Today family member, writing, “On behalf of everyone here … all of us, thank you for giving so much of yourself to this show and for being such a joy to share our mornings with.” She continued, “But of course now that joy belongs to beautiful [son] Sonny and [husband] Cyrus… We are all going to miss you, Sez, and we absolutely adore you.”
Following the heartfelt words from Jeffereys, the show played a highlight reel for Abo. It featured some of her biggest moments from Today. Abo announced her departure from the show on Wednesday.
She also thanked viewers for their continued support, “Words can’t express how grateful I am to our viewers for letting me into your homes to be part of your morning routine. Without you, there is no Today show.”
She added, “Together with 60 Minutes, I’ve spent my time at Nine chasing stories, travelling and reporting from all over the world, interviewing some incredible and inspiring people from all walks of life.”
Abo further spoke about the significant of becoming a mother, describing it as her “greatest achievement.” She thanked the wider Today team as well and also addressed her future plans on Instagram.
Abo and Cyrus Moran welcomed their baby boy, Sonny, in July 2026. The anchor had departed Today earlier for maternity leave.
Who is replacing Sarah Abo on Today?
Tom Steinfort and Sylvia Jeffreys are taking over hosting duties. Nine Network confirmed the news Thursday morning. Abo originally became the permanent co-host in January 2023.
For now, Abo’s departure marks another chapter change. However, her next career move remains undisclosed.
