Arsenal are said to reward Mikel Arteta with a ‘mega-money’ contract, which will make him one of the world’s highest-paid managers.
On Tuesday (September 22), it emerged that the Premier League‘s current longest-serving manager had agreed to an improved contract at the Emirates Stadium, ending months of talks over a new deal.
When discussing his future last week, Arteta shut down any chance of him leaving north London when his current deal expires at the end of the season, stating: “I’m extremely happy and I feel very grateful to work with the people I work with.”

The chance to build a dynasty is the driving force behind the Spaniard’s decision to stay at the Gunners long-term, and that began with their first Premier League title triumph in 2026.
After almost seven years at the club, it’s unsurprising that winning a fifth trophy in charge at the Emirates has landed him a ‘mega-money’ deal, according to the Daily Mail.
Arteta currently earns a whopping £10million-a-year plus an additional £5million in bonuses at Arsenal, but it is understood his salary will now increase ‘markedly’ with a generous bonus package.
That is a reward for how he’s transformed the club since taking over from Unai Emery in December 2019. The Gunners were down in 11th position before his first game in charge, and he’s since established them as one of the best teams in Europe.
Alongside winning the Premier League title, Arsenal came agonisingly close to lifting the Champions League, only to lose in the penalty shootout against Paris Saint-Germain.
Clearly, Stan Kroenke and the hierarchy are confident they can go one better this season by ending their hoodoo, while also challenging for successive Premier League titles.
Arteta’s men have started the league campaign with four wins from five, seeing their unbeaten record come to an end with a humiliating 3-0 defeat against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday at the AMEX Stadium.

While an official announcement over Arteta’s contract is pending, the terms of his new deal could make him the world’s highest-paid manager.
That accolade currently belongs to Al-Hilal’s Simone Inzaghi, who earns a whopping £22.3million a year in the Saudi Pro League.
Diego Simeone is second on the list with a yearly wage of £20.1millon at Atletico Madrid, and with his current £15m-a-year deal, Arteta is in third – just ahead of PSG’s Luis Enrique (£12m) and Real Madrid’s Jose Mourinho (£12m).
But as his current eye-watering contract is set to ‘increase markedly’ – as per the Daily Mail – including a ‘generous bonus package’, whatever the 44-year-old earns next could see him usurp Inzaghi at the top of the pile.
Arteta has won 224 of his 360 matches in charge of Arsenal at a rate of 2.03 points per game and a new bumper contract reflects what an incredible job he’s done at the Emirates.
