The UFC bantamweight division just got deeper.
135 pounds is widely regarded as one of the strongest weight classes in the UFC, with the likes of Petr Yan, Merab Dvalishvili, Sean O’Malley, Song Yadong, and Umar Nurmagomedov at the top.
The division’s title will be on the line for the first time in 2026 at UFC 333 in October, with Yan defending against Dvalishvili in their trilogy fight.
Before the two rivals meet again in Abu Dhabi, one of the champion’s teammates will look to make a splash in his debut at the same event.

UAE Warriors champion Asaf Chopurov books UFC 333 debut
There’s been a late addition to the UFC 333 card at the Etihad Arena following news that Asaf Chopurov has put pen to paper on a deal with the promotion.
His signing was first reported by @pelunaton on X, and it did not take long for a debut fight to be revealed.
After a 34-1 amateur career, Chopurov has gone 11-0 as a pro so far. He arrives on MMA’s biggest stage as UAE Warriors bantamweight champion, having won the title in 2025 and already made two successful defenses.
‘Honey Badger’ was being described as one of the best fighters competing outside of the Octagon, and he will finally enter that cage for the first time at UFC 333.
Per Heavy.com’s Marcel Dorff, Chopurov will fight Colby Thicknesse on October 24. The Azerbaijani-Russian newcomer will help set the stage for the return of his headlining teammate, Yan.
