Johnny Fisher was supposed to give his new promoter a knockout to celebrate. Instead, his first Zuffa Boxing main event ended with Michael Pirotton still on his feet and one judge unable to pick a winner.
Fisher (15-1, 12 KOs) took a majority decision over the Belgian at London’s Copper Box Arena on September 26. The scores were 98-92 and 96-95 for Fisher, with the third judge scoring it 95-95. That spread tells its own story: Fisher won enough of the early and middle rounds, but this was hardly a comfortable trip to the final bell.
At first, Fisher looked ready to impose himself. He drove punches into Pirotton’s body, followed with right hands and left hooks, and forced the visitor to defend. Pirotton’s right eye became cut and swollen. The ringside doctor checked it more than once, but there was no rescue for either fighter. They had to keep going.
That suited Pirotton (12-3) more as the rounds passed. He was never dropped, kept touching Fisher with his jab, and grew bolder when Fisher’s pace slowed. The home fighter still landed the more forceful shots, but he began spending too much time in range without throwing. Pirotton made him pay often enough to turn a fight Fisher had controlled into an awkward finish.
By the last two rounds, Fisher looked heavy-legged. Pirotton raised his hands at points and clearly believed he was doing enough. He did not land the punch that would have settled it, and his late work came after Fisher had built a lead. Still, the drawn card was a fair measure of how much tougher the night became for the favorite.
Fisher returned to the Copper Box for the first time since Dave Allen stopped him there in 2025. He also arrived with a new deal and a new stage after leaving Matchroom. The win gets that chapter started, but it did little to erase the questions left by the Allen fight. Pirotton was brought in as the underdog and left having pushed the headliner through 10 untidy rounds.
That was an atrocious showing, and anyone talking about Fisher near the top 15 needs their eyes checked.Fisher blew his entire gas tank loading up on wild haymakers over the first four rounds. Once Pirotton survived the initial flurry despite a badly swollen eye, Fisher fell apart physically.
By round six, Fisher was breathing through his mouth, dragging his feet like they were stuck in wet cement, and had zero snap on his punches. He spent long stretches leaning, resetting, and looking completely lost whenever Pirotton threw basic jabs down the middle. If Pirotton possessed an ounce of real heavyweight power or showed the ambition to sit down on his shots, Fisher was there for the taking.
That 95- 95 scorecard was entirely justified, and 98- 92 from the other judge felt like pure house scoring to protect the investment. The fans saw right through it. Fisher has built a loyal ticket-buying crowd, but technically and conditioning-wise, he looks completely flatlined. If this is the ceiling against a modest European-level journeyman, throwing Fisher in with any legitimate top-tier puncher will look identical to the Dave Allen stoppage.
