Colin Jost revealed what his wife, Scarlett Johansson, thinks of his Staten Island Ferry. For those unversed, he and Pete Davidson purchased the vessel in 2022, with the aim of making it a live-entertainment destination. They teamed up with comedy club owner Paul Italia to buy this old John F. Kennedy ferry at an auction.
During a conversation with PEOPLE onboard the old ferry, Jost revealed what Johansson’s thoughts are on this expensive purchase. This talk happened when Jost, along with Davidson, did a one-night comedy show in collaboration with Snapple on the ferry. He said, “She’s very supportive from a distance. I mean — I wouldn’t say she’s an active investor.” Moreover, he also joked that maybe his wife could become a little more interested once they spend their retirement aboard.
“She would love to retire on this ferry, you know? If that’s what puts her over the edge, I’m hopeful,” Jost added. Ahead of the ferry show, Davidson issued a statement, citing what the fans could expect from this comedy event. He said, “Turning the ferry into a floating comedy club with Snapple makes more sense than anything else we considered, and it still doesn’t make much sense. Either way, we’re giving people a chance to take a break, laugh, and do something completely ridiculous with us.”
The press release further described the comedy show as giving New Yorkers “an unexpectedly refreshing break from the daily grind.” Back in 2022, the ferry was bought by them for $280,000. Before this September event, the ferry was also used to host Tommy Hilfiger’s fashion show in 2024. Johansson and Jost first crossed paths in 2006 at SNL, where the Black Widow actress hosted the show while Jost was in his first year as a writer. They sparked romance rumors in 2017 and got married in 2020.
