She has now spoken about why she supported her husband’s decision and the reasons behind it.

Domino Kirke-Badgley says she remains the target of messages from fans who associate her with Penn Badgley’s decision to stop filming sex scenes. In an Instagram post on September 28, the actor’s wife made it clear that the decision was Badgley’s own.
Kirke-Badgley said she was proud of her husband when he chose to limit intimate scenes. “Meaning, he didn’t want to have sex. He didn’t want to. Yes, he didn’t want to do any of that, which was really major in his industry because that’s the thing they like you to do the most,” she said.
She also explained why audiences continue to associate Badgley with intimate roles. “The characters that my husband has played over the years, people have come to expect that he will continue to play that guy,” she said.
Kirke-Badgley said she understood how “major” the decision was and was “super happy” of Badgley when he made the choice. “So yeah, I want to say to those of you who still DM me about my husband deciding to do this for himself and his mental health, like get over it,” she concluded.
Badgley previously discussed the decision on his podcast, Podcrushed, in February 2023. He said he wanted to limit intimate scenes and questioned whether he wanted to continue being cast as a romantic lead. Badgley also explained, “Fidelity in every relationship — especially in a marriage — is important to me.”
Kirke-Badgley also addressed Badgley’s career in entertainment in her Instagram caption. “After working in the industry since he was just 12 years old, believe me, it was time,” she wrote. The singer added, “So finally, after years of trying, Penn decided to take a stand and let the world see him. And guess what, he hasn’t lost fans and he’s still getting hired!”
