Football whistleblower Rui Pinto has launched a brutal attack on FIFA boss Gianni Infantino claiming he was involved in another financial saga involving Manchester City.
Eight years ago, Pinto leaked a series of confidential club documents on his website, Football Leaks, that later resulted in the Premier League charging Manchester City for financial breaches.
Following the news that City had been found guilty, it appears that Pinto has now turned his attention towards FIFA boss Infantino, claiming that he shielded both City and another major club in PSG from UEFA punishments.
Gianni Infantino ‘a cancer on football’ claims Man City whistleblower
It’s been a tough year for Infantino following a series of dramas at the 2026 World Cup followed by his highly controversial failed ‘sell-off’ plan that led to mass protests from nations across the globe.
In recent months, the FIFA President has faced increasing pressure to stand down from his role, despite Infantino confirming his intention to stand for re-election as FIFA president ahead of the vote, which is due to take place in February.
But the pressure on Infantino is only likely to increase following Pinto’s latest social media post as he’s doubled down on previous allegations claiming that Infantino, while working as UEFA general secretary, helped both City and Paris Saint-Germain avoid punishments.
Reports from German outlet Der Spiegel have claimed that both City and PSG artificially inflated sponsorship deals, similar to the ‘sham’ deals that the Premier League revealed City had been using, to bypass Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules.
Now, Pinto appears to have backed up these reports with a damning post on his X account.
“Back in 2014, there was a man who was already aware of the irregularities involving Manchester City,” Pinto wrote.
“The infamous Gianni Infantino, then UEFA general secretary, abused his authority, shared confidential documents and, in short, outmanoeuvred the investigatory chamber, doing everything in his power to ensure that both Manchester City and PSG would merely receive a fine, avoiding a deeper investigation that could have led to a Champions League ban.
“All of these details were also revealed through Football Leaks. Given his actions as UEFA general secretary and, more recently, as FIFA president, I can only say, in my humble opinion, that Gianni Infantino has become a cancer on football and should have no place in the future of the game.”

Gianni Infantino facing further pressure as crucial nation ‘cannot justify’ supporting re-election
As the voting process for the next FIFA president rapidly approaches, the last thing Infantino needs is to be labelled a ‘cancer’ in the media.
Particularly as several national associations continue to confirm that they will not be supporting his bid for re-election next year, including England.
In a particularly damaging blow, the Swiss Football Association (SFV), the association of Infantino’s home country, recently stated that they ‘cannot justify’ supporting him next year.
“The decision follows a comprehensive reassessment of developments over the past few months,” the SFV said in a statement.
“From the SFV’s perspective, various incidents raise fundamental questions regarding leadership, governance, transparency and decision-making processes within Fifa.”
The key reason for this decision was Infantino’s lack of transparency about FIFA’s responsibilities and decision‑making process after promising he would consider reform following the backlash to his sell-off plan.
“As these have not been convincingly clarified, we cannot justify continuing to support Gianni Infantino’s candidacy,” the SFV added.
