Thaddeus “Teddy” Richards’ wife made a frantic phone call to cops earlier this summer and accused the U.S. men’s national hockey team and Florida Panthers equipment manager of violently beating her up, police audio released to the California Post on Thursday revealed.

The call was placed by Richards’ spouse at around 12 a.m. on July 17, after she and her husband had quarreled at their home in Coral Springs, Fla.

Through tears, the woman told a dispatcher that as they were celebrating their son’s birthday with a get-together inside the residence, Richards “got out of control and he hit me.”

“He was hitting me so hard,” the woman said, according to the audio. “He threw my phone away. I’m just afraid he’s going to wake up the kids.”

The woman further explained that the altercation had all started after she believed Richards was “flirting” with one of her sister’s friends at the party.

“She gave him a business card,” the woman said, alleging that Richards had cheated on her just a few months prior. “So I asked, why did he take the business card? And he started saying that I suck. That he wants a divorce or whatever.

“I poured myself a cup of water and I will admit that I threw the water on him. And then he just started hitting me like non-stop.”

The woman said she was not injured despite Richards hitting her multiple times “on the head and the face.” However, she did say her head was “spinning.”

When officers got to the scene, the woman once again alleged Richards terrorized her, according to bodycam footage released to The Post on Thursday.

“I threw the water at him. And then he lost it. I also lost it,” she said. “He started hitting me on the head. Pushed me against the wall. He was making holes in the wall and I got afraid.”

Cops eventually questioned Richards, and while he acknowledged a tussle occurred, he was adamant he did not hit his wife, bodycam footage shows.

“Her sister’s friend gave me a business card and she saw it and she f—king lost her s—t on me,” he said. “F—king hitting me. Slapping me.”

Richards said he responded to the attack by yelling, “Get the f—k out of my f—king house. I paid for this f—king house, get the f—k out of my f—king house.”

“I did not hit,” added Richards, who also told cops on the scene he was a Panthers employee. “She got f—king physical with me, which she’s been doing. She’s a f—king liar.”

Richards went on to admit that he broke his wife’s phone during the dispute, and he was then taken into custody and booked on misdemeanor charges of battery/domestic violence and unauthorized use of 911 services.

The case, though, was dismissed just days later, after prosecutors wrote in a court filing that the alleged victim signed “a sworn waiver of prosecution and will not cooperate.”

Despite the case’s resolution, Richards has remained suspended from the Panthers, with general manager Bill Zito telling reporters last month that the team was not ready to make a further statement on the allegations.

“At some point, we will,” he said. “At the appropriate time.”

Messages from The Post seeking comment from the Panthers on Thursday were not returned.

Richards, 43, has been with the Panthers since 2016 and with Team USA since 2025. He previously worked for the Pittsburgh Penguins.
