Sydney Sweeney’s romantic comedy movie Anyone But You is coming to a new streaming home. According to WBD Press, the film will arrive on HBO Max on October 20, 2026.
Released in theaters on December 22, 2023, and directed by Will Gluck, the film pairs Sweeney and Glen Powell as two people whose promising first meeting takes an unexpected turn. Bea and Ben initially develop a strong attraction, but a misunderstanding leaves them on bad terms.
Their situation becomes more complicated when they find themselves attending the same destination wedding in Australia, where they agree to act as a couple despite their history. As they spend more time together, the arrangement becomes complicated as their original attraction begins to return.
Sweeney plays Beatrice “Bea” Messina, while Powell portrays Ben. The film’s supporting cast features Alexandra Shipp as Claudia, GaTa as Pete, Hadley Robinson as Halle Spence, and Michelle Hurd as Carol, among others.
The movie received mixed reviews from critics. On Rotten Tomatoes, Anyone But You holds a 53 percent score from critics based on 118 reviews. Meanwhile, its audience score is considerably higher at 87 percent. Alan French of Sunshine State Cineplex reported, “Glen Powell, still simmering off Top Gun: Maverick, brings enough charisma to lift Anyone But You. However, Sydney Sweeney struggles throughout, and a poor screenplay does the cast few favors.” Despite its lukewarm reviews, the film was still a hit at the global box office, earning over $220 million worldwide, with over $88 million coming from domestic theaters (via Box Office Mojo).
