Eddie Hearn isn’t sugarcoating things for Andy Ruiz. If Ruiz can’t get past Dave Allen in a potential heavyweight scrap, Hearn says the former unified champion is completely finished.

Hearn wants to stage the clash at Sheffield Arena. While contracts aren’t signed yet, he believes the event will pack the venue.

“It’s a fight I’d actually like to bring to Sheffield Arena,” Hearn said to IFL TV. “I think it’s a bizarre fight, but I think it’s one that does really, really well. And I think it’s basically like, if Andy Ruiz don’t beat Dave Allen, he’s done.”

That statement puts massive heat on Ruiz. Winning against Allen does little to prove he can challenge the division elite. A loss, on the other hand, destroys any case for his career revival.

A recognizable name carries commercial value, but it won’t bail him out inside the ring. Ruiz has to deliver a dominant showing worthy of his former title status. Struggling through a tough night invites heavy criticism even with a win on his record.

Hearn seemed far less concerned about the outcome for Allen.

“If Dave Allen gets flattened by Andy Ruiz, he’s… I don’t know,” Hearn admitted.

That reaction highlights the uneven reality here. Allen walks in as the underdog. Pulling off an upset transforms his career overnight. Ruiz enters with everything on the line, trying to prove he still belongs among the top contenders.

Hearn remains confident the public will buy tickets regardless of any skepticism. The dynamic makes total sense. Ruiz risks his entire standing, while Allen gets a free shot at crashing the heavyweight hierarchy.

The bout isn’t finalized yet, but Hearn has already ramped up the pressure. Losing to Dave Allen puts an absolute full stop on Andy Ruiz Jr as a marketable, top-tier heavyweight.

Ruiz got dropped and outworked over twelve rounds by Damian Knyba, an opponent who brought nothing more complicated than height and an active jab. That bout exposed the erosion in real time. He looked slow on his feet, his work rate sputtered out after the early rounds, and the hand speed that once troubled the elite could not bail him out. Five fights in seven years since the Anthony Joshua rematch stripped away whatever sharp edge made him dangerous.

In his two fights with Joshua, Ruiz banked generational money, bought luxury cars, and treated boxing like a part-time hobby. Inactivity kills timing and reflexes faster than age does. Getting outboxed by Knyba showed the decline; losing to Allen would confirm he is finished as a championship-level fighter. At that point, the only move left is hanging up the gloves or taking low-money beatings on undercards.
