Жүжигчин Жонни Флинн “A Prayer for the Dying” киноны дүр болон бүтээлийн сонирхолтой төгсгөлийн талаар ярилцлаа.

Иргэний дайны дараах үйл явдлыг харуулах “A Prayer for the Dying” кино 2026 оны аравдугаар сарын 9-нд нээлтээ хийхээр төлөвлөгджээ.

A Prayer for the Dying star Johnny Flynn spoke with ComingSoon about his new Western movie. Flynn discussed his character holding three jobs and teased the film’s shocking ending. It’s out in theaters on October 9, 2026.

“In the aftermath of the Civil War, A Prayer for the Dying follows veteran Jacob Hansen, whose American dream of a new life in Friendship, Wisconsin quickly becomes a nightmare. When a deadly epidemic and threatening wildfire spread chaos, Jacob – serving as sheriff, undertaker, and pastor – must fight to save his town, his family, and his soul,” says the official synopsis.

Tyler Treese: Johnny, congrats on A Prayer for the Dying. I really enjoyed the film. Your character, Jacob, he’s pulling triple duty. He’s the town’s sheriff, pastor, and the undertaker. You’re an artist in multiple lanes, juggling music and acting. So did it kind of feel natural playing somebody that wears so many hats?

Johnny Flynn: That’s a really interesting question. I hadn’t quite thought of it alongside my own juggling. But now that you say it, yeah, I related to the pressure that he feels under to be in many places at the same time, and the responsibility he has to community.

In my case, it’s not like an isolated town who need my say-so on whether to isolate or whatever. But I’m certainly not my church community, but I do have that. I want to be as good as I can to the musicians that I work with.

Then also, I’ll be trying to help on a film that I’m producing and reading scripts. You want to be in many places at the same time. And then what is really true and what I really got was that thing of being pulled in those places, but really, you’re needed at home.

I think the film does that really well in terms of the pull that he feels, the contract he signed in being the town’s sheriff and whatever, but also his wife and his kid need him. And it’s a terrible schism that he’s feeling.

The ethical dilemma is just wild in this film, and just as wild as the film’s ending. What did you like about this film taking such a wild swing that is going to be divisive, I feel, but also provocative and get people having an opinion about it? That’s what you want art to do.

Johnny Flynn: Definitely. I mean, the more and more I see films and work on films, I find myself not really trusting things that everybody likes or says they like. I read those reviews, and I’m like, “I think I’m going to find something that I don’t like.”

I get that. Yeah, it’s going to be divisive, the film, but I think it’s visually and in terms of its storytelling, and there’s a truth to the performances and a real sort of felt experience, certainly in the time that we were there, that felt so real. But most of the time we were filming on the set that they built. They built that whole town.

It just felt very real. And the ending is, I guess there’s an extremity to it. But what really gave me faith in it was reading the book, the novel that it’s based on, because what you realize is that what you’ve been seeing through my character Jacob’s eyes is not necessarily the whole truth, which is kind of terrifying because you think he’s somebody you can trust.

He’s supposed to be this morally upright person. And then you start to understand that he’s suffering from some kind of PTSD or some kind of—there’s a delusional aspect. And it is terrifying and wonderful, I think, in terms of how that can play out.

You don’t know what’s real, but there’s these incredible visual journeys that you go on that become almost psychedelic in terms of what he’s experiencing. So that was cool to do and amazing. I love watching it. I think it’s beautiful.

Thanks to Johnny Flynn for taking the time to talk about A Prayer for the Dying.
