Manchester United host Tottenham at Old Trafford this evening in a clash between two sides already under pressure after difficult starts to the campaign.
Michael Carrick’s men have collected just five points from their opening five Premier League matches, their joint-worst return at this stage of a top-flight season.
United have won just once in the league this term and are without a victory in their last three matches, leaving Carrick with plenty to prove following a busy summer in the transfer market.
But things have been even worse for Tottenham, who arrive in Manchester sitting bottom of the Premier League table.
Roberto De Zerbi’s side have picked up just two points from their opening five matches and are still searching for their first league victory of the season.
Spurs suffered a 3-2 defeat to Aston Villa before the international break and have struggled badly in front of goal, failing to score in four of their five Premier League outings.
Tottenham can at least take encouragement from their recent record against United, having lost just one of their last nine meetings with the Red Devils.
