Helldivers 2 players can experience the co-op military shooter in a completely new way by transforming the popular game into a first-person mode thanks to this free mod.
Released in 2024 on PC and PlayStation 5, before coming to Xbox Series X/S the following year, Helldivers 2 became an instant hit at launch thanks to its epic co-op action, intense alien hordes, and bucket loads of satirical humour.
Arrowhead Game Studios knew it had a winner with Helldivers 2, as players continue liberating planets from hostile alien scum in the name of Super Earth. Of course, friendly fire and the occasional destructive airstrike have probably caused a few arguments among friends, but hey, it’s all part of the fun.
PC players also have the advantage of the glorious modding community, which has transformed countless games with new modes, visual upgrades and unique features. Helldivers 2 is no exception.
How does the Helldivers 2 first-person mod work?

Created by Th3ShadowDragon007, the ‘First Person Perspective-HD2’ mod is available to download now via NexusMods. It does pretty much what you’d expect from a mod with this name, plus a lot more too.
It completely transforms Helldivers 2 from a third-person shooter into a first-person shooter, while also giving you a fully customisable camera with adjustable FOV to suit your gaming needs.

The mod works both in combat on foot and when piloting the Exo-45 mech. It also works when driving vehicles and controlling turrets. Other features include an engine camera bridge that lets you sync the floating crosshair with the first-person camera, so your shots go where you’re aiming, as well as added night vision, helmet overlays, and more.
The mod is still in development, as it’s a relatively new release, so expect reported bugs to be fixed and, hopefully, even more unique features to be added at a later date. Of course, as is the case with most mods, this is a PC exclusive.
What did we think of Helldivers 2?
“While the gameplay loop is fairly small and repetitive, it takes a long time for a session to get boring, and that time is extended dramatically when you’re playing and chatting with your friends,” said GAMINGbible’s Sam, scoring Helldivers 2 an “excellent” 8/10.
