Skyrim has received an incredible new mod that adds a GTA 6 feature, making the world of Tamriel feel more immersive than ever and the popular fantasy RPG even more dynamic.
When it comes to beloved RPG franchises, it doesn’t get much more beloved than Bethesda’s The Elder Scrolls, and for many fans of the series, Skyrim is right up there as one of its best entries.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim launched in 2011 on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 and has since appeared on every console generation, with improved graphics, performance and, more recently, mod support on PlayStation and Xbox. Speaking of mods, this new release could be one of its best.
Skyrim NPCs are finally giving GTA 6 NPCs a run for their money
From what we’ve seen so far, GTA VI puts a greater focus on how NPCs react to your actions. Rob a store, and some may run and hide, while others could attack you or even capture your crimes on social media.
Sure, we probably won’t see NPCs in Tamriel pulling out smartphones anytime soon, but this new mod, which makes NPC behaviour more lifelike and adds over 11,000 lines of new dialogue, is quite literally a game-changer for Skyrim.
The mod in question is called ‘NPC Situational Reactions’. It’s created by synja69 and is available to download now via Nexus Mods. Essentially, this is a huge immersion overhaul that makes Tamriel feel more realistic by having NPCs react to your actions in the moment, rather than simply ignoring some of the things you do.
At the time of writing, ‘NPC Situational Reactions’ adds 206 new types of NPC reactions, 29 new character animations and, as mentioned, more than 11,000 lines of new dialogue. If anything, this feels like an official update from Bethesda, so well done, synja69.
I say “at the time of writing” because despite only releasing on October 7, 2026, it received an update the following day. So hopefully, it will benefit from more future updates that could add even more content. Fingers crossed.
How will the NPCs react to you?
NPCs will randomly shout, threaten people with weapons, eat food, pick locks and much more. They’ll also react differently depending on what you’re wearing.
Guards will comment on your bounty, while NPCs will notice if they haven’t seen you in a while and react if one of your followers dies. It always felt odd when there was no reaction when Lydia flopped to the floor dead that one time. They’ll also react to the weather and wildlife, such as a dog barking, or panic when a dragon appears.
Quite possibly the funniest reaction is an NPC reacting if you stare at them for too long or bump into them. This feels very GTA V. How many times have you got into a fight with a random NPC? Now, imagine an NPC in Skyrim acting that way.

Is ‘NPC Situational Reactions’ available on console?
Sadly not. Due to the substantial nature of this mod, it’s currently not available on PlayStation or Xbox, making this a PC exclusive.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is out on just about every platform imaginable. As for GTA VI, it arrives on November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
