Did anyone else miss fantasy basketball and the NBA? We sure did. We’re back with another season of High Score fantasy hoops on Yahoo, the second season after the inception of the game in 2025-26. Last season, we’d recap the perfect lineup from the week, the top-six scorers (occasionally with some ties) from the week in fantasy basketball. This year is no different. Let’s dive in.
More on the top performers
Luka Dončić: In the least shocking development of Week 1, Dončić was able to finish things off by posting the highest score. If you’re new to High Score this season and have Dončić, get used to this type of box score: 52 points, 8 rebounds, 10 assists, 2 steals. It’s also looking like we can pick on the Jazz a lot this season (again). It’s Luka’s show in LA and you should expect more of this the rest of the way.
Anthony Edwards: Ant-Man came out of the gate hot, scoring 45 points with 10 boards, 3 assists and 3 stocks in the opener against Miami. Edwards is off to a good start in his quest for a first scoring title, something Dan Titus threw out there in his bold predictions for this season. This T-wolves team should be fun all season with LaMelo Ball in town.
Nikola Jokić: Now here’s another familiar name! And one you’ll likely read about often in this series throughout the season. The Nuggets’ big turned in a performance we’re used to seeing — 35 points, 15 rebounds, 10 assists and 5 stocks for the second highest score of the week. Joker should see this ceiling again in Week 2 with some winnable matchups against the Warriors, Pelicans and Suns.
Jalen Johnson: Last season’s breakout star in fantasy, Johnson is off to a great start. The stat-stuffing forward posted 26 points, 9 rebounds and 16 assists with 2 steals against the Rockets over the weekend. Johnson will get that same matchup against Houston on Monday before facing the Heat, Cavaliers and Pelicans later in the week.
Jayson Tatum: It was a tale of two Tatums in Week 1. In the opener, the Celtics star struggled with just 13 points on 6-of-23 shooting from the floor (0-for-7 from 3-point range). But Tatum bounced back against the defending champs on Friday, posting 36 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists with 3 steals in the victory. Expect more performances like this in Week 2 as Boston and Tatum take on the Bulls (twice), Nets and Magic.
Ty Jerome: We did not see this coming in Week 1. Jerome entered the season set to take over as the starting point guard in place of Ja Morant, who was shipped to Portland. Jerome was a trendy sleeper pick going into the campaign, and while it’s still early, he’s looking like a steal after dropping a career-high 45 points with 7 rebounds and 6 assists in the opener against Utah. He’s already looking like a league-winner.
The Grizzlies PG tied with two superstars — Giannis Antetokounmpo and Devin Booker. The Heat and Antetokounmpo are off to an 0-3 start to the season, though the Greek Freak will generally be solid in this High Score format. Booker’s 43-7-7 line helped lift Phoenix to a win over the Dubs over the weekend.
