Having won the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations only to be downgraded to runners-up by CAF showed the calibre of Pape Thiaw’s squad but they have yet to pick up a point from tough games with France and Norway.
It is still mathematically possible for them to advance to the knockout stages but they require a huge win over Iraq and for other results to go their way to sneak through as one of the best third-placed finishers.
