It’s that time of year again – Christmas for car enthusiasts has come around again. This is what we’ve seen at Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Like a moth to a flame, car lovers are drawn back to the British festival as an automotive pilgrimage spot.
This year was no different, and Supercar Blondie was on the ground taking in the sights and sounds of cars.
Here’s some of what we saw while we were there.
At Goodwood Festival of Speed, the cars didn’t disappoint
There’s been a lot of buzz building about Goodwood Festival of Speed, and for good reason.
It’s the time of year when many cars get their big debut.
Whether that’s Gordon Murray’s 5.50s Niki Lauda supercar or a full-size Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear made out of Lego, there’s something for everyone to get excited about.
How does the world’s first road legal Bugatti Bolide sound? That got its chance to shine this year.
Taking place between July 9 and July 12, the festival was hosted on the beautiful land surrounding Goodwood House in West Sussex, England.
This year, the Supercar Blondie team was there among the thousands in attendance.
Here’s what we’ve shared so far
We were lucky enough to get up close and personal with several epic cars at Goodwood.
One was the Denza Z Convertible, a joint venture between BYD and Mercedes.
The Denza Z is all about the speed, as it takes less 2 seconds to get to 60mph and less than 10 minutes to charge using BYD’s Flash chargers.
Supercar Blondie’s newest presenter, Chloe, was able to drive the car at Goodwoodand noted three things stood out about it – its noise, its speed, and its stability.
She also had the opportunity to get behind the wheel of the new Lexus LFA.
Admittedly, there was no driving to speak of as this was a prototype without an engine.
But we do know that the finished product will be more powerful and faster than the GR GT, with an expected range of over 430 miles (700 km) and a power output pushing toward 1,000 horsepower.
Plus, it being stationary gave Chloe the opportunity to take in the modernized interior.
The best is yet to come with Goodwood Festival of Speed
Suffice to say, there’s been a lot of awesome cars at Goodwood this year – not that we would have thought otherwise.
We’ve seen a Lamborghini Temerario, the brand’s brand-new plug-in hybrid supercar, featuring a twin-turbo V8 that revs all the way to 10,000 RPM.
Then there’s the Ferrari 849 Testarossa, decked out in a striking blue and white North American Racing Team (NART) inspired livery.
Outside the Pagani stand was a Huayra Roadster 70 Derecho, the second of three creations made to honor Horacio’s 70th birthday.
This car features an exposed carbon fiber body, a 7-speed gate manual gearbox, and a 6.0L AMG V12 engine producing 852hp.
And that’s not forgetting the Audi RS5, the Pagani Utopia, and a whole host of others.
