A Redditor thought he’d spotted a Ferrari F50 in Fort Myers, Florida, but that wasn’t exactly accurate.
In fact, it wasn’t accurate at all.
At first glance, the F50 looks stunning.
But a second look reveals the obvious truth.
What the Florida man spotted in Fort Myers
Three pictures – all taken in Fort Myers, Florida – were shared by two Redditors, and the situation becomes gradually clearer if you look at the images.
The first picture, from the back, showed something that more or less looked like a Ferrari F50.
The second picture, from the front, revealed that this was clearly a kit car.
And the third picture, from the side, gave us a couple of hints about the car(s) that were used to create this.
But one thing is clear: this is not a Ferrari F50.
It shouldn’t surprise us.
The F50 is very rare, and most collectors never drive them anyway.
So the chances of randomly spotting one on the road away from a car show or a similar event are very close to zero.
So what actually is this?
People in the comments went absolutely wild with a variety of theories.
“C6 Corvette, maybe a [Mitsubishi] 3000GT,” one user wrote.
“It might be an Acura NSX,” another wrote.
At which point several other Redditors pointed out that destroying an Acura NSX to create a Ferrari would be a sin.
“The NSX deserves better,” a third user said, making a fair point.
It wouldn’t be shocking, though.
The Acura NSX has very similar proportions and dimensions to a long list of mid-engined Ferrari, so it lends itself well to this sort of thing.
We’ll leave it up to you to decide whether that’s a good thing or not.
