When this American grandpa saw his late wife’s 1990 C4 Corvette after its first clean in 25 years, it was an emotional moment.
For Joe, this Corvette held significant sentimental value, having belonged to his late and dearly loved wife.
For the past two decades, it’d sat idle and accumulated quite a lot of dirt.
Thankfully, WD Detailing were on hand to bring it back to life – and leave the rest of us dabbing our eyes with a tissue.

YouTube channel WD Detailing clean up cars on a regular basis, it’s their bread and butter.
While some of their jobs have been interesting for less savory reasons – like mice creating a nest inside a car – plenty of them have been tearjerkers.
Because let’s face it, cars do carry sentimental value for a great many people.
There wasn’t a dry eye in the house when this Minnesota widow got to see her late husband’s DeLorean cleaned up after 30 long years.
It was a similarly touching story when this family wagon got a long-deserved comeback after 52 years inside a barn.
And sometimes the emotional moments happen mid-restoration, as was the case when this emotional letter was found inside a Jaguar E-Type.
Who would have guessed that cleaning cars would generate such a tidal-wave of emotions?
This 1990 C4 Corvette had seen better days
It was much the same with Joe and his late wife’s C4 Corvette.
For the last two decades, the car had been stationary, building up a cover of dirt, debris, and animal droppings.
When WD Detailing arrived on the scene, they attempted to start it in the barn in which it’d been sitting but had no luck.
Taking it to their shop on a flatbed, they got to work.
First things first, they started with a specialized pre-wash to lift off the dirt and contaminants, followed by a pressure wash.
To get the scratched paint back to its former glory, they utilized a rotary polisher and a dual-action polisher.
Fixing up the exterior looked like a walk in the park compared to what lay in store inside the car.
Inside the center console was a massive mouse nest, and let’s just say that the mouse made their presence known in other ways…all over the carpet.
The carpet also had a deep rust stain which was treated using Rustoleum rust remover and a hot water extractor.
To sanitize the car, heavy-duty enzyme cleaners were whipped out to kill all the bacteria that had built up inside this Corvette.
And then came all the mechanical aspects of the car.
A new battery was installed, 20 years of stagnant fuel was siphoned out, and fresh gas was added.
Before they knew it, they had the car fired up again.
Humorously, four plastic chicken eggs flew out of the exhaust at this point.
That seems par for the course for a car that’s spent the better part of 20 years inside a barn.
When Joe saw the clean car, he had an emotional reaction
It was now time for Joe to see his late wife’s C4 Corvette in its restored form.
The reveal was temporarily delayed as Joe had been hospitalized for four days due to a severe health scare.
However, he was reunited with the Corvette after being discharged from the hospital.
Hearing the car start up was instantly familiar to him.
“I know that growl anywhere. Gorgeous. Gorgeous…” he remarked.
“It turned out awfully nice!”
Recalling a story about his wife driving the car brought him to the brink of tears.
“She had to go get something. I said, ‘Just go ahead and take the Corvette’. So, I hear all this commotion outside,” Joe recalled.
“I turn around. She’s got the car sideways out here with the tires howling.
“She gets back. I’m like, ‘What are you doing?’ She goes, ‘Well, I just couldn’t stop’. I said, ‘I guess not’.
“But my goodness, she says, ‘Why stop?’ Oh, yeah. The tires were smoking and hollering and wow, down the road she went in it.”
It’s a lovely story, and it’s nice to see that WD Detailing are touching so many people with their work.
“Man, these guys at WD are out there doing the Lord’s work,” one commenter wrote.
We have a feeling that sentiment is widespread.
Reflecting on the work they do, WD Detailing acknowledged the ‘amazing feeling’ that came with it.
“We love what we do very much. It is such an amazing feeling being able to take someone’s old, neglected, forgotten car and bring it back to life and when it has sentimental value behind it, it makes it all the more special for us,” WD Detailing told Supercar Blondie.
“Every detail we do is 100%, we try to go the extra mile to really bring as many great memories back to the owner as possible.”
