New York Rangers executive chairman and CEO James Dolan is stepping back and handing day-to-day ownership responsibilities to his son Quentin, the team announced in a release. The 32-year-old Quentin’s new title is president, chief operating officer and alternate governor of the Rangers.
Quentin’s previous title was senior vice president (player performance and science leader), a title he also holds with the Dolan-owned New York Knicks.
“Since his arrival overseeing our Player Performance and Science department, Quentin has made a strong impact on the Rangers and Knicks organizations, and we are pleased that he will step into this elevated position,” James Dolan said in a statement. “Quentin has quickly become an incredibly valued member of the Rangers franchise and played a key role behind the scenes with the Knicks during their championship run this past season. I look forward to seeing the positive influence he can make in this expanded and critical role.”
Rangers president and general manager Chris Drury will now report to Quentin, who will report to James. Drury’s title will not change.
The Athletic previously reported that Quentin would likely have an expanded role with the Rangers after the Knicks’ title run. “That likely means a larger say in other aspects of the Rangers, including more direct communication with team president and general manager Chris Drury,” that article said.
“Quentin and I have worked together for several years, and I believe him taking on this role will only make the Rangers organization stronger,” Drury said Friday in a statement.
