Ryan Reynolds has once again caught Deadpool fans’ attention with a public appearance as the character. The actor recently shared the moment on social media with a wholesome “Jeanpool” video. The appearance comes following Reynolds’ confirmation at Fanatics Fest 2026 in New York that Deadpool 4 is in the early stages of development.

As preparations begin for Deadpool’s fourth film, Ryan Reynolds is stepping back into the role of the fast-talking mercenary.
Reynolds made an unexpected costumed appearance at Marvel’s Hall H panel during Comic-Con on Saturday. He later posted a behind-the-scenes clip of himself blending in with fans while walking the San Diego Convention Center floor.
“The fans got Deadpool off the ground so many years ago,” the actor captioned the video that was posted on X (formerly Twitter). “Yesterday, 10 years after the first film and exactly 2 years after Deadpool & Wolverine, I felt so lucky to be on the #SDCC floor with everyone whose unapologetic devotion brings so much joy to this world.”
The video also included footage of Robert Downey Jr. spotting him on stage alongside the cast of Avengers: Doomsday. “Who’s this guy with the swords and stuff?” asked the Iron Man star.
With the crowd cheering, Ryan Reynolds spoke into the microphone: “Long-time listener, first-time caller.” He then asked, “This seems an awfully expensive way to announce a film. When do you start filming?”
Fans quickly flooded social media with excitement, calling the surprise appearance and video a perfect return for the character.
“The fans after realizing that they took a picture with the real Deadpool,” posted an X user along with a gif of a shocked Joey from Friends. “Ryan you’re the best. You know how to surprise and love the community,” posted another. “THAT WAS ACTUALLY YOU!!!! Bruh!!!” commented one fan. “Thank you for making it possible, for making us happy,” wrote another.
Test footage of Ryan Reynolds as the Marvel character first leaked in 2014, five years after his first appearance as Wade Wilson in X-Men Origins: Wolverine in 2009. The buzz led to the highly successful Deadpool movie in 2016, with sequels Deadpool 2 and Deadpool & Wolverine following in 2018 and 2024, respectively.
