This Washington man has just reached an incredible full self-driving milestone while letting his Tesla do almost all the work.
His Tesla Model 3 has now completed more than 20,000 consecutive miles using the company’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) system without requiring him to take control once.
The achievement is believed to be the longest verified uninterrupted FSD streak recorded so far.
Along the way, Moss also recorded one of Tesla’s most publicized demonstrations of the software.
A Tesla Model 3 driver has completed a Full Self-Driving joyride
David Moss, from Tacoma, Washington, spends much of his time traveling the country for work, making him the perfect candidate to put his Tesla EV’s software through an extensive real-world test.
His latest uninterrupted Full Self-Driving streak has now exceeded 20,000 miles, with the Model 3 navigating highways, city streets, and construction zones without him needing to intervene at all.
The Tesla Model 3’s journey has been verified through the community-run FSD Database, which records disengagements directly from the vehicle itself.
But this wasn’t the Tesla fan’s first attempt.
Back in late 2025, he completed more than 12,900 consecutive FSD miles before heavy snow and freezing temperatures in Wisconsin forced him to take over manually, ending that streak.
Rather than stopping there, he reset the counter and began again.
Along the way, Moss also completed one of Tesla’s most publicized demonstrations of the software by driving from the Tesla Diner in Los Angeles to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina – a 2,732-mile coast-to-coast trip completed without a single intervention
Tesla later featured the drive as an official customer story, and it seems to be sort of an EV cannonball run.
Tesla is expanding the capabilities of its FSD software
Tesla has continued expanding the capabilities of its supervised Full Self-Driving software through regular updates.
Recent versions introduced new features including a live streak counter, which resets whenever the driver brakes, steers, or stops using the system, making this Washington man’s achievement particularly impressive.
Despite the milestone, Tesla itself stresses that Full Self-Driving (Supervised) is an advanced driver assistance system, not a fully autonomous driving platform.
Drivers are required to keep their hands ready and remain attentive so they can take over whenever necessary, especially in areas where there are lots of other drivers and hazards or an emergency occurs.

For the driver himself, though, the technology has transformed long-distance travel.
His latest 20,000-mile streak has seen the Model 3 effectively chauffeur him across thousands of miles of North America, turning his normal work trips into what could be described as one very long autonomous joyride.
