Jumanji: Open World trailer has fans hyped about Dwayne Johnson sequel
Dwayne Johnson shared the new trailer for Jumanji: Open World on X on July 29. “One. Last. Game. The final countdown begins,” Johnson wrote in his post. He confirmed the film will release exclusively in theatres on Christmas Day.
The trailer quickly generated excitement among fans on social media. “Love the way you all act,” one user wrote in response to the post. Another user shared their enthusiasm, writing, “This bout to go hard! I’m hyped.” A third user called the franchise “one of the most entertaining family blockbusters.”
Jumanji: Open World serves as the fifth and final installment in the Jumanji film series. Jake Kasdan directs the sequel and co-writes it with Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg. Notably, the film follows 2019’s Jumanji: The Next Level and brings the rebooted franchise to a close.
Meanwhile, Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, and Karen Gillan return as the core cast. Alex Wolff, Madison Iseman, Morgan Turner, and Ser’Darius Blain also reprise their roles. Additionally, Nick Jonas, Danny DeVito, Rhys Darby, and Bebe Neuwirth rejoin the ensemble. Awkwafina joins the franchise as a new character named Ming Fleetfoot. Brittany O’Grady, Burn Gorman, Nasim Pedrad, and Lamorne Morris further round out the cast.
In terms of production, principal photography began in November 2025 in Los Angeles and wrapped on March 30, 2026. Ben Davis served as the cinematographer, while Henry Jackman composed the score. Mark Helfrich handled editing duties for the project.
Sony originally scheduled the film for a December 11 release date. However, the studio moved it to Christmas Day to avoid competition with Avengers: Doomsday and Dune: Part Three. Columbia Pictures, Matt Tolmach Productions, and Seven Bucks Productions co-produce the film.
