Tesla is preparing something enormous for EV drivers in California.
What’s currently a fairly ordinary charging stop in the Mojave Desert could soon become the biggest Supercharger station anywhere in the world.
Plans reveal hundreds of next-generation chargers arriving in stages.
And if everything goes ahead, one dusty highway exit between Los Angeles and Las Vegas might turn into the busiest EV pit stop on the planet.

The plan from Tesla for a 400-stall Supercharger in the desert
Tesla wants to massively expand the existing Eddie World Supercharger site in Yermo, California.
Right now, the location is fairly small, with just 22 older V2 and V3 chargers that top out at around 150kW.
However, Tesla’s new plans show the site growing into something much bigger.
The project will happen in six phases.
First up is Phase 1, which will add 72 brand-new V4 Supercharger stalls.
After that, more phases will keep adding chargers until the total climbs past 400 stalls.
To put that in perspective, Tesla’s current biggest Supercharger site – the Project Oasis location in Lost Hills, California – has about 164 stalls.
So if this new station is completed, it will be more than twice the size of Tesla’s current record holder.
The location also makes perfect sense.
The site sits along Interstate 15, the main road that connects Los Angeles and Las Vegas.
That route gets extremely busy during weekends and holidays, and even though there are already hundreds of chargers nearby, long lines still happen when lots of EVs show up at once.
So Tesla’s solution seems simple: build a charging station big enough that nobody has to wait.
The charging stop that could become an EV mega rest stop
The expansion isn’t just about plugging in cars, though.
Plans show the site turning into a full travel stop built around EV charging.
Drawings include a 10,100-square-foot Cracker Barrel restaurant, a 4,300-square-foot McDonald’s, a convenience store, and space for additional restaurants and drive-throughs.
There will also be outdoor seating areas and retail spaces, which means drivers can actually stretch their legs, grab food, and relax while their cars charge.
Tesla is also planning ahead for bigger vehicles.
Some chargers will be pull-through bays, meaning drivers towing trailers won’t need to unhitch just to plug in.
That will also make life easier for larger vehicles like the Cybertruck or even future Semi trucks.
The project will be built gradually so the existing chargers can keep running while new ones are added.
If everything goes according to plan, the Eddie World location won’t just be another charging station.
Instead, it could become something closer to a futuristic roadside oasis for EV drivers crossing the desert.
