Spider-Man: Brand New Day has landed a strong audience grade, but it still couldn’t match its predecessor’s rare reception. Early moviegoers rewarded the latest Marvel outing with high marks, even as No Way Home continues to hold the franchise’s highest audience score.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s CinemaScore revealed
Spider-Man: Brand New Day earned an A CinemaScore, placing it among Marvel Studios’ better-received theatrical releases. The grade also makes it the 25th Marvel Cinematic Universe film and the sixth live-action Spider-Man movie to receive an A or better from opening-night audiences.
Still, it falls one step below Spider-Man: No Way Home, which secured the coveted A+ rating. Only a handful of comic-book films have ever achieved that, including The Avengers, Black Panther, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: No Way Home.
The Spider-Man series has consistently performed well with audiences. Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2 both received A-, while Spider-Man 3 settled for B+. The Amazing Spider-Man earned an A-, followed by a B+ for its sequel. Tom Holland’s earlier solo outings, Homecoming and Far From Home, both collected A grades before No Way Home raised the bar with A+.
Animated entries also impressed fans, with Into the Spider-Verse earning an A+ and Across the Spider-Verse receiving an A. Online reactions on Reddit reflected that history. Some fans admitted they expected Spider-Man 2 to rank higher, while others argued No Way Home may have benefited from its nostalgia factor.
The film reunites Tom Holland as Peter Parker alongside Zendaya, Jacob Batalon and Jon Favreau, while welcoming newcomers including Sadie Sink, Jon Bernthal, Mark Ruffalo, Liza Colón-Zayas, Tramell Tillman, Marvin Jones III and Melanie Scrofano.
Producer Amy Pascal previously praised Holland’s take on the hero, saying he brought an emotional depth hidden “behind his smile,” calling his portrayal both heartfelt and uniquely his own. That connection with audiences appears intact, even if Brand New Day stopped just short of matching No Way Home’s exceptional CinemaScore.
