Aston Villa midfielder Boubacar Kamara marked his return from injury with a goal as Villa continued their 2026 summer tour of Southeast Asia with a convincing 3–1 victory over Thai League 1 side BG Pathum.
Unai Emery’s side handled the oppressive 34°C heat and humidity effectively, securing their second consecutive pre-season win following their opening 3–1 triumph over the Indonesia All Stars in Jakarta.
Villa established complete command of the contest in the first half, striking twice before the break to build a comfortable 2–0 lead. The visiting Premier League side dominated possession and pressed high, forcing turnovers against the Thai League Cup holders and demonstrating sharp attacking movement in the final third.
Emi Buendia got on the end of a slick team move to open the scoring before Victor Lindelof headed a second.
New signing Alejandro Garnacho played the first half while the likes of Kamara, John McGinn and Pau Torres all got some game time after the break.
Kamara fired in a third shortly after coming on, with the midfielder returning from his latest knee injury.
Villa are in the UEFA Super Cup final against Paris Saint-Germain on 12 August 12. Villa now head to Hong Kong for their final leg of the Asian tour, where they will face Bayern Munich at the Kai Tak Stadium on 7 August.
No Kane but Bayern also win on tour
Bayern Munich left some big names behind after their World Cup exploits but still picked up a hard-fought 2–1 victory over K League 1 outfit Jeju SK FC at the Jeju World Cup Stadium in Seogwipo-si.
The German champions took early command of the encounter and found the breakthrough in the 11th minute. Following a chaotic clearance inside the Jeju penalty box, Felipe Chaves reacted quickest to pounce on the loose ball, neatly slotting past the goalkeeper to put Bayern ahead.
Jeju responded almost immediately with a stunning piece of skill just four minutes later. Striker Mateus Aias executed a remarkable rainbow flick inside the 18-yard box to evade defenders Kim Min-jae and Hiroki Ito, cutting the ball back for Lee Chang-min to fire home.
With mainstays such as Harry Kane and Michael Olise rested, Vincent Kompany gave extended minutes to academy prospects and squad players. Bayern re-established their lead before the interval as Bastian Assomo, 16, fired in.
