Manchester City came from behind to secure a 3-1 over Atletico Madrid in Seoul in what was Enzo Maresca’s side’s final run-out before meeting Arsenal in the Community Shield next weekend.
An Omar Marmoush brace and a late Rayan Ait Nouri goal ensured Maresca’s men ended their pre-season tour of Asia on a high after Jorge Dominguez had opened the scoring for the Spanish club.
Dominguez had poked home from a corner to give the LaLiga side the advantage three minutes before the break in the South Korean capital.
It was something of a suckerpunch at the end of a half the Premier League side, under new boss Enzo Maresca, largely controlled.
Defender Josko Gvardiol had earlier somehow failed to find the net when he headed wide from close range, while Savinho and Tijjani Reijnders also went close to to breaking the deadlock.
It was perhaps the only blemish in an otherwise promising 45 minutes for City, who are still adjusting to life in a post-Pep Guardiola era.
After the restart, it took little over 10 minutes for City to draw level. Marmoush supplied the finish, but it was Antoine Semenyo who did the hard work, sliding to the ground to prevent the ball going out for a throw, before getting to his feet and beating his opponent.
The Ghana international then crossed into the six-yard box for Marmoush to turn in.
Two minutes later, Maresca’s side took the lead courtesy of the exact same combination, with Semenyo again delivering for Marmoush, who made no mistake from close range.
Divin Mubama then squandered a great chance to extend City’s lead as the game entered the final 10 minutes.
The Premier League would eventually find a third, however, when Alt Nouri, who had moments earlier missed a good opportunity, finished nicely into the bottom corner after being picked out by Mubama.
