Dakota Ditcheva could potentially be set for another bout of inactivity following her recent fight.
Last Friday night, Dakota Ditcheva returned to action for the first time in over a year when she took on Denise Kielholtz in the PFL New York co-main event.
The flyweight star went on to dominate her kickboxing counterpart, winning the fight by unanimous decision.
But after making her long-awaited return to action, ‘Dangerous’ Dakota could be set for another period on the sidelines, re-injuring both of her hands.
Ditcheva confirms broken hands after being spotted in cast
Almost immediately after her win in New York, MVP co-owner Jake Paul attempted to negotiate her future in the promotion, even offering her a car as part of those negotiations.
MVP MMA recently announced they have acquired the PFL as part of a significant merger, with Ditcheva set to be one of the faces of the promotion.
The 28-year-old’s next fight has already been lined up to take place against former UFC star, Liz Carmouche.
However, that fight may end up hitting a delay, as although Ditcheva was eager to return to action before the end of the year, she was spotted at MVP’s boxing event this past Saturday with her hand in a cast.
It was an ongoing hand injury that kept her out of action for over a year, attempting to recover from breaking both of her hands.
While at the MVP boxing event, Ditcheva was seen sat with Nakisa Bidarian as she reacted to the action in the ring. During the event, she wore a cast, and refrained from clapping which highlighted potential concern.
And now, this Sunday the MMA star has taken to her YouTube channel to talk about her last fight, while confirming that she has re-injured both of her hands.
“So, some breaking news, I am injured again, I broke my hands in the fight. I could feel it from the second I started the second round, I didn’t tell my corner, I didn’t tell anybody, I didn’t show it, I didn’t tell anyone until I got out of the cage.
“That could possibly be why there was no interview after the fight, now at first I didn’t realize why they didn’t interview me but my brother told them I broke my hands and they said they needed to get me out of the cage straight away.
“I’m back in splints until my surgeon tells me what the next steps are going forward,” she continued.
The 28-year-old confirmed that she hasn’t broken new bones in her hand but she has re-broken the bones that repaired from her last hand break.
At this point, Ditcheva is unsure how long she will be out of action for, but has confirmed she will be out for ‘a little bit’.
“I will be back, my career is not done, hopefully I’ll be back quicker than I was last time. We’re ready to go again with the healing process.”
