Spider-Man: Brand New Day has achieved another major box office milestone in India. It has surpassed two of Hollywood’s biggest blockbusters, Avatar: The Way of Water and Avengers: Endgame. The latest record adds to the film’s strong theatrical performance and further highlights its growing success in the Indian market.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day has overtaken Avatar: The Way of Water to become the highest-grossing Hollywood movie in India. Variety reports that the superhero movie has earned $52.8 million in India, surpassing the $50.8 million lifetime total recorded by Avatar: The Way of Water. The latest milestone came after Spider-Man: Brand New Day added another $10.6 million from its most recent weekend in India.
The film immediately made an impact with its opening-day performance in India. It brought in INR 72.44 crore, approximately $7.6 million, on its first day, surpassing the opening-day figure previously set by Avengers: Endgame. Nearly one million people attended screenings across India on that Thursday.
At PVR Inox, the film drew a particularly strong response during its opening weekend. The release earned more than INR 135 crore, approximately $14.1 million, across the cinema chain, with nearly three million tickets sold. The average occupancy was approximately 60%.
Sony reported a gross of $35.4 million for the film’s four-day extended opening weekend across India. The release was shown on 17,250 screens, with major metropolitan markets accounting for a significant share of revenue. Bengaluru accounted for 23% of the top-city grosses, followed by Hyderabad at 17%, Mumbai at 15%, and Delhi at 14%.
The film’s Indian success has contributed to a substantial worldwide box office total. As of now, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has earned $1.65 billion globally. According to Box Office Mojo, this includes $655 million from the domestic market and $1.01 billion from international territories.
